Featured Graduate Students
Each month the UWM Graduate School takes pleasure in introducing you to one of our many talented graduate students.
UWM graduate programs are invited to nominate currently enrolled graduate students for the Featured Student Web site.
- November 2009: Kristina DeSmet
- This December, Kristina DeSmet will be awarded UWM's first Ph.D. in Health Sciences. Her doctoral research using near-infrared light could lead to better treatment for Parkinson's Disease.
- October 2009: Jihyun Kim
- After experiencing the “friendly atmosphere and great support” of the UWM Department of Communication as a master’s student, Jihyun Kim decided to pursue her Ph.D. here as well.
- September 2009: Karen Moore
- The Urban Studies dissertator stopped practicing law after 10 years, wanting to "resolve differences rather than escalate them."
- Summer 2009: Marissa Jablonski
- Her passion for learning and teaching about the world's environment has taken her throughout Europe and North America.
- May 2009: Chris Slaten
- Chris Slaten advises prospective doctoral students to "be aware of the amount of time and effort that must be put in, in order to succeed."
